At 1470m, the beautiful village Champex is located in the French speaking canton of Valais and is a popular place to visit all year round.
Seasons in Champex Lac
Summer
During the summer months, the lake is the focal point as people enjoy the gorgeous fresh water and idyllic mountain scenery whilst they swim, fish and cruise around on pedalos. Small cafe/restaurants are doted around the area or you can enjoy the services of the new hotel, restaurant and spa, Au Club Alpin. The area is conveniently located at the foot of the Mont Blanc Massif and is the starting for many hikes as well as being on the famous Tour de Mont Blanc and Haut Route.
Winter
In winter the lake freezes over and the focus moves to the small ski resort. With 15km of pistes, the ski area sits mainly above 2000m and is a favourite spot to many in the region as it avoids the crowds heading to bigger resorts. Various activities take place on the frozen lake including the popular ski de fond course which runs right over it.
